WELCOME TO RICK'S PLACE!!

Wish I were here now.....(I can dream can't I)?

Dedicated to those who served.

This page established 4th Aug 1998

I'm 47 years old, and live in the southeastern part of New Mexico, USA. I have been married for eighteen and one-half years and have three children who still live at home. My wife and I are both teachers (she is a special education teacher and I am looking for my first teaching job). I recently received my Bachelor of Science Degree, if any of you out there think you're too old to go back to school then I suggest you think again. It is an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

I served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War ( check out my link to the Viet Nam Vetrerans Homepage). I never did go "in country", but had some friends who did and for a long time I felt guilty because I didn't go. However, I did go to Germany and loved it there. The people were fantastic and the country is beautiful.

My main interest is my family. My wife has stuck with me during both the good times and the bad times. At one time I had a serious drinking problem but with help from both her and GOD I haven't touched alcohol in over six years. My oldest daughter will be a junior in high school this year. She has a vision problem but does really well in school. I'm proud of her! My youngest daughter will be in the eighth grade this year. She is such a happy girl. She is always singing and dancing around the house. My son will be in the fourth grade. He is a typical boy. Presently he is recovering from a broken foot.

My life-long interest is history. My dream is to go on an archaeological dig sometime. I love to read history magazines and watch television documentaries. I would also like to visit American Civil War sites.

HOT!HOT!!HOT!!!

The part of New Mexico that I live in is dry and barren. We are located about three miles from the Texas border (too bad Texas didn't want us). It gets hot in the summer (very little rainfall) and cold in the winter (very little snowfall, just cold).

The main economy is oil field related. We do have several dairies and a new 1200 bed prison is being constructed (that is where my wife teaches). Our city is continously growing and has a population of about 30,000. There are no lakes or rivers nearby, so water sports are out of the picture for me.
